Wiltshire Council has produced a leisure review which could see the closure of all the swimming pools in West Wiltshire over the next decade.
The pools and leisure centres were run by West Wiltshire Council before it was abolished, under a contract with DC Leisure.
However the council would allow the pool to stay open if a community group came forward to run it.
The council says the leisure centres could be replaced by ‘campuses’ at Trowbridge, Melksham and Warminster.
Bradford councillor Malcolm Hewson has set up a petition against the closure of the town’s swimming pool at http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/savebradfordonavonpool

St Paul’s Church Staverton is threatened with closure. The church was built on a spur overlooking the River Avon and is still a prominent sight for travellers approaching across the flood plain from Bradford on Avon.
The site is likely to have been used for religious buildings for centuries, but the present church dates from 1826 when it was constructed to replace a smaller ‘chapel of ease’.
The churchyard is a peaceful place with plenty of plant and insect life.
The church itself has suffered a dwindling congregation in recent years and the diocese is considering its future.
An approach to the National Trust to see if they would be interested in managing the site has not been successful.

The parish stewards go round the villages putting right any minor road defects and doing repairs such as filling potholes, clearing blocked drains and doing other odd jobs on public land. If you see anything you think needs fixing either call ‘Clarence’ on 0800 23 23 23 or inform your parish clerk who can put it on the stewards’ job list.
Action dates for our villages are:
South Wraxall - July 21; Sept 22.
Monkton Farleigh - July 22; Sept 23.
Staverton - July 27; Sept 27.
Holt - July 28; Sept 28 and 29.
The stewards will spend August pulling up ragwort or going on holiday.

Staverton play area has been awarded Playbuilder funding to provide improvements to the School Lane site. This is part of a grant of £1.1 million given to Wiltshire by the government in 2009.
Last year the play area at Farleigh Rise was upgraded using some of this cash.
The playground is traditionally very well used, but has had problems recently with some of the older pieces of equipment not passing safety inspections.
The council’s Play Development Service will be working with the local schools and youth groups to see what improvements they would like.
